With a little light at the end of the pandemic tunnel and thoughts of dancing again etching ever closer, Higher Love Recordings first release of 2021 sees them teaming up with Mexican producer Alex Aguayo for some unashamed hands in the air peak time electronica in the shape of the ‘Not Going Out EP’.  There’s two different takes on the original, one from the label heads themselves and Whiskey Pickle’s Adam Warped.

‘Not Going Out’ starts with a kick, knocking out a four to the floor electro Italo beat, layering  synths to a almighty breakdown.  On the first rework Balearic Ultras develop the sound around Alex Aguayo’s emotive synths, adding breaks and a splash of acid. The track builds for over four minutes before unleashing that rave again breakbeat house sound.

Closing out the EP Adam Warped delivers a slice of complex electronica. It features dance music’s most famous birds, subtle electro breaks and lush keys and guitar work from Adam himself.  It’s a totally different take on the original that would work as the sun sets over Sant Antoni de Portmany or at 4am on Sunday morning in Glastonbury’s naughty corner of Lost Vagueness.
