Sinchi & Friends 83 – Hanzo & Yaman

Sinchi & Friends 83 comes from Vienna based duo  Hanzo & Yaman. Featuring two upcoming tracks of their own and a number of unreleased tunes coming from some of their favourite producers around the world. It’s a clubby kind ofmixtape that you will get you dancing day or night. They told us the inspiration came from their Auntie from another County “Titaporn”, their Dj Gigs and the creative crowd that surrounds them. Plus you can get to know a bit more about them from their interview below.

ABOUT

1) Introduce yourself?

We are Hanzo & Yaman we are based in Vienna and Istanbul. Last year we released our first EP called ‘Sirisins’ and founded our own label Belly Dance Services for this. Besides that we released an EP on Tom Tom Disco this year, which was a great experience because we love Richard Rossa and his music. Hanzo also has had two vinyl releases on the small Viennese label fortunea records.

2) What have been your highlights from the last 12 months?

Seeing People dance and celebrate to our productions. Moreover meeting other fellow producers from highly interesting labels, kicking off promising projects and digging deeper into the fantastic world of music.

3) What do you have lined up for the coming year?

We are going to release an EP on Playground Records and on our own imprint Belly Dance Services. Also we have some remixes that will come out soon. And of course always working on new and old tracks. For next year we are planning to have more shows in different countries.

4) Which track in the mix is your favorite right now?

YAMAN: My favorite is ‘Baile Muerto’ by Bufi which we are going to release next year on our label.

HANZO: That will be “Hanzo & Yaman – Francisco”

5) What is your favorite track of the last 12 months?

YAMAN: Gucci Shoes Edit by Cashminus definitely worked amazing on the dancefloor the last months and I can say it’s a favourite.

HANZO: Damn. So many amazing tracks! I specially digged releases by labels like Tom Tom Disco, Studio Barnhus, Playground, Calypso Records, Multi Culti, NEIN Records, Disco Halal, Public Possession, La Gaffe Tales also Hardfist had some dancefloor cracking gems. Also I’d like to mention Eluize’s LP on Cragie Knows and a small label from Belgium: Ensemble Records. Also recently we received remixes from artists like Balam, Colossio, Roe Deers, Bufi, Lily Haz, Tony Disco or Richard Rossa. I loved every each of them and can’t wait for more.

6) What is the last record you bought?

HANZO: Recently I acquired a interesting record from Tblisi “V.C.V.S. – HUM”

YAMAN: O! By Zongamin which came out on Multi Culti.

7) Whats your number 1 go to track of all time?

YAMAN: It’s definitely an unexpected one, Ya Rayah by the algerian music legend Dahmane El-Harrachi.

HANZO: That changes frequently. I love the song “Rupa – Aaj Shanibar” – touches me every time.

8) Who or what are your biggest musical influences?

YAMAN: I’m a big Jim O’Rourke fan and he definitely influenced me in my musical thinking. Other then that I love the whole german Krautrock Era and the spontaneous composition writing they did.

HANZO: Yaman (at least we spend the most time influencing each other..)! Otherwise everything and everyone. Lot’s of inspiring (musical) people here in Vienna and all over the globe.

11) Do you have a ritual before you start playing or straight after?

A simple high five makes the good stay and the bad go away.

12) What is your favorite bit of kit? (Music production)

Ableton, the red KORG Electribe Rmk2 drum machine, lot’s of Native Instruments and UAD plug-ins. If we could afford it, it would be a Roland 808 drum machine or a MC202.

13) What is your favorite film score?

HANZO: Kill Bill 1&2, Blade, Space Jam, Garden State and all Bollywood movies.

YAMAN: Mine is  for the movie Bodysong composed by Jonny Greenwood.

14) What is your dream destination?

HANZO: At the moment it’s 1030 Vienna – where I live, work and where I dream.

YAMAN: Definitely Mexico.

15) What makes you smile?

YAMAN: When someone slowly mixes a Hanzo & Yaman track into the set.

HANZO: My friends, especially my girlfriend Gerry.
